Morning Prayer for Gratitude
Morning Prayer for Gratitude
Starting with Gratitude
How we begin the day shapes how we experience it. When we start with gratitude, we train our minds to notice blessings instead of only burdens. Gratitude does not deny difficulty; it simply refuses to let difficulty have the final word.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” That does not mean pretending everything is fine. It means choosing to thank God for what is good even when much feels hard. A morning prayer of gratitude sets that intention from the start.
Scripture on Thankfulness
Scripture repeatedly calls us to thankfulness. Psalm 118:24 declares, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Colossians 3:15–17 urges us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and to be thankful. Gratitude is not optional for the believer; it is a way of life.
Take a moment to reflect on one or two things you can thank God for today, no matter how small.
A Morning Prayer for Gratitude
Lord, thank You for this new day. Thank You for breath, for life, and for Your presence with me. Help me to notice Your goodness today and to give thanks in all circumstances. When I am tempted to complain, remind me of Your faithfulness. I praise You. Amen.
