Afternoon Prayer for Rest
Afternoon Prayer for Rest
The Need for Midday Rest
We are not machines. Our bodies and minds need rest, and the afternoon is often when that need becomes obvious. A brief prayer for rest is not laziness; it is wisdom. It acknowledges our limits and invites God to restore us.
Jesus said in Mark 6:31, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” He modeled rest for His disciples. God does not expect us to run on empty. He invites us to come to Him for rest.
Scripture on Rest
Scripture speaks to our need for rest. Psalm 23:2 says, “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.” Matthew 11:28 invites, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Rest is a gift God offers, not a luxury we must earn.
Let these verses remind you that rest is available, even in the middle of a busy day.
An Afternoon Prayer for Rest
Lord, I need rest this afternoon. My body and mind are tired. Help me to find moments of peace in the hours ahead. Restore my energy and calm my spirit. Thank You for being my rest. Amen.
