Afternoon Prayer for Patience
Afternoon Prayer for Patience
When Patience Wears Thin
By afternoon, patience can wear thin. Delays, interruptions, and difficult people can test our limits. We snap, we sigh, we regret our words. A prayer for patience is not about gritting our teeth; it is about asking God to fill us with the patience we lack.
Galatians 5:22–23 lists patience as a fruit of the Spirit. We do not produce it on our own; the Spirit produces it in us as we abide in Christ. When we ask for patience, we are asking for God’s work in our hearts.
Scripture on Patience
Scripture speaks to our need for patience. Colossians 3:12 urges us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. James 1:4 says that patience allows perseverance to finish its work so we may be mature and complete. Patience is not passive; it is a choice to respond with grace.
Let these verses guide you as you pray for patience.
An Afternoon Prayer for Patience
Lord, my patience is running out. I am irritable and short. Fill me with Your patience. Help me to respond with grace instead of frustration. Give me wisdom to know when to pause and when to speak. Thank You for Your patience with me. Amen.
