Afternoon Prayer for Gratitude
Afternoon Prayer for Gratitude
A Midday Pause for Thanks
The afternoon can feel like a grind—tasks to finish, problems to solve, fatigue setting in. A brief pause to give thanks can shift our perspective. Gratitude does not ignore difficulty; it simply refuses to let difficulty have the only voice.
Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” We can enter God’s presence at any moment with thanksgiving. A midday prayer of gratitude is a way to do that.
Scripture on Gratitude
Scripture repeatedly calls us to thankfulness. Colossians 3:15–17 urges us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and to be thankful. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances.” Even in the middle of a hard day, there is something we can thank God for.
Take a moment to notice one or two blessings before you pray—a small kindness, a moment of progress, a breath of fresh air.
An Afternoon Prayer for Gratitude
Lord, I pause in the middle of this day to thank You. Thank You for Your presence, for Your provision, and for the good I have already seen. Help me to notice Your blessings in the hours ahead. I praise You. Amen.
